About Me
There is nothing more calming in difficult moments then knowing someone is fighting with you.

Philosophy and Approach to Counseling
I approach counseling as a consultant working together with the client(s). As a team, we work toward the goal of improving their understanding of and ability to respond positively to the challenges facing them. I aspire to provide a safe and respectful atmosphere in which to develop practical strategies for solving the problems that make life difficult. In order for this to happen both my clients and I have to be honest. You may feel worse. Therapy is a process that is designed to affect change that can feel disruptive.
I generally function within a systems framework using strategic and solution focus theories. When appropriate I integrate cognitive and behavioral models into therapy. Using these frameworks, I strive to help clients change old patterns and discover new ones that are more effective. Each person and family is singular. This requires flexibility and creativity in order to meet each client at their particular place. Using the unique characteristics of each family or person as assets I strive to assist clients in understanding, clarifying, and applying their values to their own lives. As a Christian, I am aware of the influence my values have and I endeavor to help the client to clarify and implement their own values.
